The RCM470LY‑72 is a Type A residual current monitor from Bender, designed for earthed systems (TN and TT systems). It measures residual current non‑invasively via an external measuring current transformer. When an earth fault is detected, the device triggers an alarm without disconnecting the power supply, providing advanced warning of developing ground faults and effectively preventing nuisance tripping. This high‑current version is suitable for critical applications requiring detection of high earth fault currents.

Key Features

· High‑range residual current monitoring: 0.1 … 100 A steplessly adjustable, suitable for high‑power equipment or main circuit earth fault monitoring.
· External measuring current transformer: Uses W…, WR…, WS… series current transformers; measurement largely unaffected by load current and system voltage.
· Adjustable response delay (0…10 s): Prevents nuisance tripping due to transient disturbances.
· LED bar graph: Shows current measured value as a percentage of the set response value.
· Selectable fault memory: Latching (manual reset) or non‑latching (auto reset) mode.
· Self‑test and reset: Built‑in TEST/RESET button; supports external push‑buttons for remote operation.
· Transformer connection monitoring: Alarms immediately on wire break.
· Sealable transparent cover: Prevents unauthorised parameter changes.
· Configurable output relay: Normally energised or normally de‑energised operation.

Typical Applications

· Earth fault monitoring in industrial distribution systems (TN/TT earthed systems)
· Earth fault detection for high‑power motors and generators (motor control systems, portable and stationary generators)
· Socket outlet circuits for permanently unattended equipment (air conditioning, EDP systems)
· Alarm systems, safety devices
· Cooling equipment (e.g., refrigerators storing valuable frozen goods)
· Canteen kitchens
· Industrial control and heat tracing systems
· Busbar systems
