The RC48C-935 is a ground-fault and ground-continuity monitor from Bender, designed for high-resistance grounded systems. In these installations, the maximum ground fault current is limited by a neutral grounding resistor to 5 A, 15 A or 25 A.

The device is particularly suitable for trailing cable protection – trailing cables are highly susceptible to environmental damage and require continuous monitoring to ensure power supply safety.

The RC48C-935 combines two critical functions in one device: monitoring the system's residual current, and monitoring the grounding conductor for low resistance, high resistance and shorted conditions.

Technical Specifications

· Order No.: B94013002
· Suitable systems: High-resistance grounded systems, maximum ground fault current limited to 5 A, 15 A or 25 A
· Ground continuity response value: 40 Ω
· Measuring principle: Fault current measurement via Bender dedicated measuring current transformer
· Alarm output: Relay with two voltage-free changeover contacts
· Alarm contact delay: Selectable time delay to prevent nuisance tripping due to transient interference
· Fault type detection: Detects series resistance faults (high resistance or open circuit) and cross resistance faults (short circuit)
· LED status indication: Alarm status clearly indicated by LED lights
· Remote alarm indication: Alarm messages can be displayed on a remote RI2000GC alarm indicator and operator panel
· Alarm relay configuration: Configurable for N/O (normally open) or N/C (normally closed) operation mode depending on the load switch type

Key Features

· Two-in-one monitoring: Simultaneously monitors ground fault current and grounding conductor integrity
· Residual current measurement: Via Bender dedicated measuring current transformer
· Ground continuity monitoring: Continuously detects low resistance, high resistance and shorted conditions of the grounding conductor
· Adjustable alarm delay: Alarm contact can be set with time delay to prevent nuisance tripping
· Fault type identification: Detects series resistance faults (high resistance or open circuit) and cross resistance faults (short circuit)
· Alarm relay triggering: Alarm relay can be used to trigger a load switch
· Flexible alarm configuration: Alarm relay configurable for N/O (normally open) or N/C (normally closed) operation mode

Typical Applications

· High-resistance grounded systems: Systems with fault current limited to 5…25 A
· Mining applications: Monitoring ground integrity and residual current of trailing cables and connected loads
· Cables with pilot wire: Monitoring cables that feature a pilot wire
· Earthing system monitoring: For monitoring the integrity of earthing systems
