The IR1575W-435 is a compact insulation monitoring device from Bender, designed for unearthed AC, AC/DC, and DC power systems (IT systems). It continuously monitors the insulation resistance of the main circuit, providing early warning of insulation faults to ensure electrical safety and prevent system downtime. The “W” suffix indicates a specific variant of the IR1575 series, which may include special conditioning such as a wider temperature tolerance or conformal coating for harsh environments.

Key Features & Functions

· Patented AMP Measurement Method – The IR1575W-435 employs Bender‘s AMP measurement method, which automatically adapts to the specific system conditions – including the system’s inherent leakage capacitance – to provide optimal measurement results. This allows the device to be used effectively in systems with directly connected DC components.
· Two Independently Adjustable Response Values – The device features two separately adjustable alarm relays, allowing users to distinguish between pre‑warning and critical alarm. The response value ranges are independently configurable from 2 kΩ to 1 MΩ.
· Automatic Adaptation to System Leakage Capacitance – Taking the system leakage capacitances into account, the IR1575W-435 automatically adapts itself to the existing system conditions in order to optimise the measuring time. The maximum permissible system leakage capacitance is 1000 μF.
· Backlit LC Display – Equipped with a backlit LC display, the device presents measured values and operational parameters in an intuitive format. The standard display shows the currently measured value for RF (insulation resistance). Press the up or down buttons to display all other measured values. After 5 minutes at the latest, the display switches back to the standard display.
· Built‑In Self‑Test and Connection Monitoring – An automatic self‑test function continuously verifies the internal measuring circuits, system control components, and earth connections. Connection monitoring also supervises the integrity of the measuring leads. If any fault is detected, the device provides immediate indication, ensuring high functional reliability.
· External Test and Reset Functions – External push‑buttons can be connected to perform device and connection testing, or to clear stored fault messages, enhancing convenience and safety particularly when the device is installed in a control cabinet or hard‑to‑access location.
· Fault Memory (Selectable) – The device includes a fault memory function that can be activated. When enabled, alarm relays remain in the alarm condition and LEDs stay lit until manually reset, helping to identify intermittent faults.
· Two Independent Alarm Relays – The device provides two separate alarm relays, each with a changeover contact, configurable for N/C or N/O operation, allowing flexible integration with external alarm systems or PLCs.
· Plug‑in Terminals – The device features plug‑in terminals for convenient and fast electrical connection.
· Enclosure for Door Mounting – The device is designed for panel mounting and has an enclosure for door mounting with dimensions of 96 x 96 mm.
· Special Conditioning “W” – The “W” suffix indicates a variant with specific hardware configuration and environmental conditioning, such as wide temperature tolerance or conformal coating for harsh environments.
· De‑Energised System Monitoring – An external supply voltage allows de‑energised systems to be monitored, ensuring continuous safety oversight during maintenance or system shutdown periods.

Typical Applications

· Industrial IT systems – Insulation monitoring for AC, DC, and combined AC/DC unearthed systems.
· AC or AC/DC main circuits with directly connected DC components – Including systems with rectifiers, converters, and other DC components.
· UPS systems and battery systems – Continuous monitoring of insulation integrity in uninterruptible power supplies and battery backup installations.
· Phase‑controlled heating systems – Monitoring insulation resistance in systems using phase‑angle control for heating elements.
· Installations including switch‑mode power supplies – Systems with high‑frequency switched power supplies.
