Description

The Allen-Bradley 1794-ADN is a 24 VDC DeviceNet media adapter module. It supports up to 8 Flex I/O modules and communication rates of 125 Kbps, 250 Kbps, and 500 Kbps. The status indicators in the 1794-ADN allow the users to monitor the I/O and ModNet status.

The 1794-ADN has an open-type enclosure and supports DIN rail or panel mounting. It also comes with One (1) DeviceNet port that uses an open 5-pin or 10-pin linear plug. The entire 1794-ADN module measures 3.7 x 3.6 x 3.4 inches. Its power ports use Category 1 wire, while the communication ports use Category 2 wire.

This adapter module has a power supply current load of 400 mA at 24 Volts, while its DeviceNet power rating is 24 Volts DC at 90 mA. It has a nominal input voltage of 24 Volts DC and a maximum FlexBus output current of 640 mA at 5 Volts DC. Its input voltage range is from 19.2 to 31.2 VDC and this includes the 5% AC ripple. The 1794-AND module also has a maximum current draw of 400 mA at 24 VDC. The DeviceNet module has a maximum power requirement of 24 Volts DC (+/- 4%) voltage at 90 mA. The 1794-ADN has been type-tested at 1,930 Volts DC for 60 seconds, and it has a continuous isolation voltage of 50 Volts. Its maximum power dissipation is 7.6 W at 19.2 Volts DC and its thermal dissipation is 26 BTU/hour at 19.2 Volts DC. Its operating temperature range is -4 to 158 degrees Fahrenheit while its storage temperature range is -40 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit. The 1794-ADN comes with a vibration rating of 5 g at 10 to 500 Hertz, an operating shock rating of 30 g, and a non-operating shock rating of 50 g.

The 1794-ADN supports installation of up to Eight (8) Flex I/O modules of any combination. It has a power supply requirement of 24 VDC, nominal that must be capable of providing turn-on inrush surge current of 14A for 5 ms. Appropriate supply voltage range is 19.2-31.2VDC, 400 mA and the module provides a FlexBus output current of 5V DC, 640 mA.

The 1794-ADN support DIN rail or direct panel mounting. It is the leftmost module of the Flex I/O rack. It has Status Led indicators that is used by the operators to monitor the operation of the module and troubleshoot in situations that the device becomes unresponsive or improperly working. Module address configuration is defined using the built-in thumbwheel switches embedded within the module. Valid settings are 00-63. Adjustments is made via the minus (-) and plus (+) buttons while Baud rate is set by baud detection during power-up. The 1794-ADN supports data transmission rate of 125KB, 250KB and 500KB. Recommended DeviceNet cable for use with the 1794-ADN module is Belden YR-29832 or equivalent 3rd party cable.
