The 22D-B8P0F104 drive is an adjustable frequency drive that can control the speed and torque ratings of industrial motors. It has been designed and manufactured by Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation as part of the PowerFlex 40P series. The 22D-B8P0F104 adjustable frequency drive operates with 240 Volts AC 3-phase input voltage and with 50 to 60 Hertz of rated input frequency. It can be flange-mounted inside an enclosure with a protection rating as low as IP 20 or as high as IP 65. The 22D-B8P0F104 adjustable frequency drive has a maximum output current rating of 8 Amps.

Description

From the series of drives called PowerFlex™ AC comes the PowerFlex™ 40P AC drive, 22D-B8P0F104, designed for end-users and global OEMs to provide smooth closed-loop control, flexibility, Category 3 safe-off, ease of use, and space conservation.  In its cost-saving and compact design, the 22D-B8P0F104 is effective with speed control applications including diverters, synthetic fiber spinning machines, drafting machines, palletizers, packaging machines, smart conveyors, and ring spinning machines. The 22D-B8P0F104 comes with a variety of flexible and versatile mounting and packaging options.  Its plate/flange enclosure allows for panel mounting with NEMA 1/IP30 rated and NEMA 4/IP66 rated with like enclosures.  As a frame “B” drive, it can be installed by virtual snap using the DIN rail mount or by panel mounting.  It has external filters to meet Class A and B EMC and EN55011 requirements and is equipped with plate drives that reduce the overall enclosure size depending on a 75% reduction in enclosed Watts.  Much needed panel space can be saved, using Zero-Stacking™, in ambient temperatures of up to 40 degrees Celsius. An ambient temperature of 50 degree Celsius is permitted with the minimum amount spacing between drives;  to further raise environmental ratings, an optional IP30 (NEMA 1) conduit box can be adapted to the standard (NEMA Type Open) product.

When a fault occurs, display parameters can be changed and the drive can be reset through the integral display and reset button. Application parameters are contained in three Program groups: Basic, Advanced and Enhanced.  The Basic group contains 10 of the most common application parameters.  The Advanced group contains common parameters that are shared with the PowerFlex 40, while the Enhanced group contains additional fibers and position control parameters.  Programming this device from a PC can be achieved through the RS485 port, which can also be used in a multi-drop network configuration.  Any controller with the DFI port can connect to the drive through the serial converter module.  With a 4 digit display having 10 LED indicators, users can obtain an informative display of the drive’s status and information.  Additional programming and control flexibility can be achieved with the NEMA Type 4X and NEMA Type 1 hand-held LCD keypad - both with the CopyCat function installed.

To improve machine performance, ControlNet™, EtherNet/IP™, LonWorks®, PROFIBUS™ DP, and DeviceNet™ integral communication cards may be employed in the 22D-B8P0F104 drive.  Any Allen Bradley products that support DSI™ protocol, and any desktop or laptop computer or Pocket PC with Bluetooth® wireless technology installed can connect and communicate wirelessly with the 22D-B8P0F104 through the drive’s DSI Wireless Interface Module (WIM).  With the field installed option, additional stand-alone drives can be added to the network in the future.   The 22D-B8P0F104 is configured with two semi-programmable digital inputs that make its wiring and troubleshooting easy and are dedicated for start and stop functions.  There are five fully programmable inputs with 9 settings for fibers and basic positioning enhancement and 27 standard settings for application versatility.  Drive and motor conditions can be indicated through a programmable form C relay output and two opto outputs.  The reverse DI is fully programmable through E202 [Digital Term 3].  It has a selectable DIP switch via one analog input (isolated from the rest of the drive’s I/O) for current or voltage thus increasing zero-cross performance.
