Description

The 1606-XLPRED module is a power supply unit known as a redundancy (decoupling) module that is manufactured by Allen-Bradley. This device uses a decoupling diode to engage multiple power sources in redundant applications, to decouple these sources from each other, and to isolate them from the load side too. The 1606-XLPRED module accepts 24 to 48 Volts DC voltage at both inputs (Vin1 and Vin2). This module can be installed very quickly without any tools because it has uniquely designed quick-connect spring-clamp terminals for wire connections, and the unit itself is mounted onto a DIN-rail by simply pushing it into place. At the output side, there are 2 pairs of “+” and “-“ terminals for 24 Volts DC power delivery to the control circuits.

The Allen-Bradley 1606-XLPRED module is a part of the Allen-Bradley 1606-XLP series of advanced power supply units. The output current rating is 10 Amps rated, but this unit can send 16 Amps of current for 5 seconds, which makes it a great solution for systems with load “hiccups”. The 1606-XLPRED module is an IP 20 rated device with dimensions of 45 millimeters x 75 millimeters x 91 millimeters. The device can operate in extreme temperatures in a range of -40 to 70 degrees Celsius. This device does not have replacement parts. If the internal fuse blows, this will be due to an internal short circuit. For the proper cooling of the device and proper circulation of the air around it, leave 20 millimeters of space below the device, 40 millimeters above it, and 5 millimeters of space on each side during installation.
