1762-OB16 | Allen-Bradley MicroLogix I/O Expansion Module

The Allen-Bradley 1762-OB16 is a MicroLogix I/O expansion module. This module is compatible for use with MicroLogix 1100, MicroLogix 1200 and MicroLogix 1400 product family. It is primarily used to provide additional output channels via the Sixteen (16) 24VDC source output channels.

The 1762-OB16 supports sourcing wiring configuration. It is specifically a solid-state output module that delivers an output voltage range of 20.4 - 26.4 VDC. Output modules, such as the 1762-OB16 is generally used to energize discrete actuating devices such as solenoid and motorized actuating devices, pilot lamps, siren, horn, buzzer, relay coils, motor starters and other similar devices.

The 1762-OB16 has a signal delay time of 0.1 ms before switching ON and 1.0 ms before switching OFF. Eahc point has a continuous current rating of 0.5A @ 55 °C (131 °F) and 1.0A @ 30 °C (86 °F) with continuous Current per module of 4.0A @ 55 °C (131 °F) and 8.0A @ 30 °C (86 °F) with Surge Current rating of 2.0 A (Repeatability is once every 2 s @ 55 °C (131 °F), once every second @ 30 °C (86 °F) for a duration of 10 ms.).

The 1762-OB16 has a power supply distance rating of Six (6) modules. Therefore, it must not be installed Six (6) modules away from the power supply. Alternatively, a power supply may be installed to accommodate more than 6 modules.

The number of installation instances of the 1762-OB16 varies depending on the controller. Up to Four (4) Expansion I/O is supported by MicroLogix 1100, Six (6) by MicroLogix 1200 and Seven (7) modules may be installed with a MicroLogix 1400.

The 1762-OB16 is an ideal solution for controller applications that require more I/O than the built-in ones the controller comes with. The 1762-OB16 Source Output Module expands the number of I/O and it has a voltage category of 24 VDC with a maximum surge current of 2.0 A, a maximum bus current draw of 175 mA at 5 Volts DC (0.88 Watts), and a maximum continuous current of 4.0 A at 55 degrees Celsius (131 degrees Fahrenheit)/ 8.0 A at 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit) per module.

The 1762-OB16 comes with Sixteen (16) digital outputs and one common output. This I/O module can be panel or DIN rail-mounted. A DIN rail end anchor is required for high vibration environments. Mount the 1762-OB16 to a well-grounded surface and maintain clearance from the adjacent equipment, enclosure walls, and the wireways. All sides should have 2 inches (50.8 millimeters) of space for adequate ventilation. The ideal maximum operating altitude for the 1762-OB16 is 2000 m (6561 feet) with humidity between 5 to 95% non-condensing.
