Description

The Allen-Bradley 1785-L80E is a legacy Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) by Allen-Bradley. This PLC is ideally is used for Large applications with complex control requirements. It is capable of implementing discrete and analog control in both manual and automatic modes, implement motion, calculation, counting and deployment of advanced control algorithms such as Proportional + Integral + Derivative (PID) control.

This controller has a non-expandable user memory amounting to 100KWords used for storing user programs, and configuration. The contents of the user memory is maintained by a Lithium battery with catalog number 1785-XYC. Non-volatile memory backup devices may be installed to the controller to complement the internal user memory. Compatible memory devices for this controller are 1785-ME16 for 16K words, 1785-ME32 for s 32K words, 1785-ME64 for 64K words and 1785-ME100 for 100K words.

The 1785-L80E has embedded communication ports that allow the controller to communicate with different industrial devices and implement distributed I/O applications. This communication ports include a 25-Pin RS232 communication port used for point-to-point communication. It supports DF1 Full and Half duplex protocols. It also has an 8-Pin mini-DIN programming terminal, Channels 1A and 1B combo ports that are configurable for Data Highway Plus (DH+) and Remote I/O (RIO) Adapter or Scanner. It also has an Ethernet communication port that supports 10/100 Mbps with auto-negotiation capability. The 1785-L80E is installed on the leftmost slot of the 1771 I/O chassis and draws 3.6A backplane current at 5 VDC and dissipates 65 BTU/hour heat when operational. The controller uses the 1770-XYC battery module for maintaining the volatile user memory and either the 1785-ME16, 1785-ME64, 1785-ME32, or the 1785-M100 memory modules lithium battery as memory backups.

The processor addresses I/O hardware in 3 different modes, the 2-slot mode which address any mix of 8-point module, and a 16-point pair module, the 1-slot mode which addresses any mix of 8 and 16-point modules, and a 32-points I/O pair modules, and the half-slot mode supports any mix of 8, 16, and 32-points modules. The 1785-L80E has 1 dedicated 15-pin Ethernet communication port, 2 Data Highway Plus (DH+)/Remote I/O (Adaptor or Scan) ports for connection to the DH+ network, and 1 RS-232-C, 422-A, and a 423 serial communication port. It has an internal circuit clock with +/- 5 min per month accuracy variation and it has a rated operational temperature range of 0 to 60 degrees Celsius (32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit) at 5 to 95% non-condensing humidity without derating. It can meet an operational shock of 30G and a vibration of 1G at 10-500 Hertz without derating and is CSA, C-TICK, CE, and UL-certified.
