The Allen-Bradley 1756-ESMNSE is a Capacitor Energy Storage Module that is compatible with the 1756-L7x or 1756-L7xXT GuardLogix controllers and the ControlLogix 5570 controller.

This 1756-ESMNSE module can only be used with a 1756-L73 (8 Megabyte) or smaller memory-sized controller. If your application requires that the ESM or energy storage controller is depleted of its residual energy when installed, make sure that it is exactly or below 40 µJ before transporting it into or out of the application. It usually takes 20 minutes for the residual stored energy to go down to that level.

This energy module ships out with specific controllers instead of batteries. The module is used to support the maintenance of the controller's WallClockTime when power is unavailable. The hold-up time should not exceed one day when the temperature of the controller ranges from 20 to 60 Degrees Celsius. Without the energy module, the controller's wall clock time will go back to the factory default of 01/01/1998 when the controller undergoes a hard or soft reset.

The 1756-ESMNSE is removable and has no residual power backup for the WallClockTime. The current draw for this1756-ESMNSE module at 5.1 Volts DC is 300 milliamps.
