Description

The Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation 1606-XLP100E power supply is a switched-mode power supply that can supply loads with 100 Watts of power. This power supply has a special feature for single/parallel operation as an inclined characteristic. It is able to auto-detect the power level at the input terminals, whether it is 100 to 120 Volts AC or 220 to 240 Volts AC. The 1606-XLP100E special feature has a major advantage as an SMPS unit when compared to standard linear power supply units because it is much more efficient (90% typical efficiency). This is achieved by internally switching the transistors that act as ideal switches. The normal mounting position of the 1606-XLP100E power supply is with the input terminals oriented down and the output terminals oriented up. The users are free to mount the device in any direction, but then there should be a minor reduction in the continuous output power or in the maximum allowed ambient temperature for certain positions.

The Allen-Bradley 1606-XLP100E power supply is able to work in parallel power supply systems that are built to gain a higher system availability. These redundant systems always have an extra unit to be able to power an installed load if 1 of the power supplies fails. At the output side of the 1606-XLP100E power supply, it is sometimes good to install miniature circuit breakers (MCBs) for branch protection. The device is internally protected for output short-circuits and overloads. It has a non-operating temperature range of -40 to 85 degrees Celsius and an operating temperature range of -10 to 70 degrees Celsius. The dimensions and weight of the device are 73 millimeters x 75 millimeters x 103 millimeters and 0.36 kilograms, respectively. The unit is CE, c-UL-us, and CSA listed.
